An experimental study on residual stress relaxation in low‐cycle fatigue of Inconel 718Plus

Abstract Residual stress relaxation induced by the application of mechanical loads is determined nature residual stress, elasto‐plastic material properties, and type applied load. Despite importance first load cycle, analytical models available in literature generally assumed as a continuous process. machining on Inconel 718Plus superalloy cylindrical specimens was measured before after cycles under strain control. Low‐cycle fatigue tests were carried out at room temperature for different amplitudes, X‐ray diffraction measurements performed 10 100 cycles. A comprehensive model derived to describe process associated with initial that which based plastic energy per cycle W requires evaluation parameters are only dependent not amplitude.
